Lets Take a Walk

This morning we walked down to the local market and bought freshly cooked doughnuts, iced milo and delicious ripe mangoes. Andrew, Becci and Simon joined myself  and the "early birds" Lucia and Jamie for a 5min stroll down the road to PC Market. I thought you might like to take the stroll with us.......
Take a right out of our front gate and walk down the bumpy road past all the rubbish (bin men have not been for ages). All the pot holes are filled in with broken bricks and tiles which make walking a little tricky but it is not far on this road until we get to a paved road.
At the end of this road turn sharp left and then the road turns sharp right and we are on a paved road seen below. At the end of this road we will need to turn left.
We walk down to the end of this road with the Wat on our right (you can see the decorative wall)

This picture is taken from the market entrance

We get to the entrance of PC Market shown by this big archway inside is a little bustling local market. I have yet to see a foreigner there (they do go but not often) I have also found prices significantly cheaper than my previous market.

Our aim was to get freshly cooked doughnuts which have been cooked over a fire like the one above. They are simple ring doughnuts with sugar but so delicious!!! We then go to a lady who sell ice coffee and milo for a large sugar rush!
We went back home and had doughnuts, mangoes and coffee some from the market and others opted for freshly ground Cambodian coffee by Three Corner Coffee. We have all decided it is a good once a month Saturday morning tradition!

Independence Day

This evening I went down to the river front with some of the girls from my Bible study group to watch the fireworks that always mark Independence Day. I was going to take the children but Ewan was not well. When we arrive I was glad as it was heaving...there were people and cars and policemen everywhere. Where there are people there are food carts, balloon sellers and beggars.
All the important buildings were decked out with lights and there were very tasteful lights over the road. It reminded us all of the Christmas light being turned on.
Royal Palace Gate
We managed to cross the road which was a steady stream of traffic...all of us have been here long enough to know if you stand at the side of the road you will never get across. So we just walked out and the traffic slowly flowed around us!
On the other side there were a few less people and it was right opposite where the fireworks were being set off.
It was nice to see whole families out enjoying themselves and to hear the sound of enjoyment when the fireworks started....especially from the little boy in front of us. It is funny that the oohs and aaahs are the same in what ever language you speak.

Afterwards we went to the Blue Pumpkin for some food ...the raspberry and dark chocolate combo for ice cream was so yummy.

Busy Week!

Jamie doing Ewan's betime story!
Last weekend we moved house which was quite hectic. I had a day off work and Colin took time off too. It took rather a lot of trips back and forth with the "moving" van due to all my pot plants on the roof!!! Colin said the removal men just put the pots on their shoulder and walked down four flights of stairs!
Once in our house it was the lovely task of unpacking which a week later is still slowly happening. We will get there eventually! We keep stopping and saying how amazing this house is. It is quiet, enjoyable to live in and near so many people we know. We feel so amazingly blessed.
Upstairs lounge
Lots of boxes in the dining room!!!
Playing on the veranda
This weekend was very busy we had a Soiree "Shakespeare Under the Stars" at school to raise money for the library. It was packed and really good fun.....I was face painting so I enjoyed myself!
Then this morning was really exciting because today at church three people were baptised. They are all people we have got to know over our last two years hear so is was really lovely to see them making this step in their faith. It was also funny seeing our paddling pool put to a different use! Please pray for these three people as life is not always easy and they will face many difficulties but they know the God who loves them and has their lives in his hands.

Lunch afterwards...yum!
